Virginia Essandoh Elected to College of Law Practice Management

Ballard Spahr Chief Diversity Officer Virginia G. Essandoh has been named a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management, a nonprofit organization for legal professionals. She will be inducted at the 2014 Futures Conference and Annual Meeting in October.

Ms. Essandoh is the first legal diversity and inclusion professional to be inducted into the College.

“Virginia will be an exceptional resource for other legal professionals who want to expand their diversity and inclusion efforts, just as she is at Ballard,” said Firm Chair Mark Stewart. “The honor is well deserved.”

Formed in 1994, the College of Law Practice Management honors distinguished law practice management professionals, sets standards of achievement for others in the profession, and funds and assists projects that enhance the quality of law practice management. The College’s Fellows work to develop, exchange, and disseminate legal professional knowledge based on their respective specialty areas.

Ms. Essandoh has dedicated her career to enhancing law practice management through the advancement of diversity in the legal industry. Before joining Ballard Spahr, she was a management consultant at Altman Weil, where she specialized in diversity strategy for legal organizations. At Ballard Spahr, Ms. Essandoh is responsible for developing, implementing, and promoting the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives nationally. She leads the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Council and sits on the firm’s Management Committee. Ms. Essandoh is also active in advancing women in the profession and is responsible for assisting and executing strategy related to the firm’s women’s initiatives.
